Unique safety solutions for those working on the edge

Committed to bringing you the best in quality, versatility and experience, MSA continues to work closely with major roofing manufacturers to provide a full range of fall protection systems for all styles and types of roofs. With a focus on design and testing, the discreet, flexible and reliable nature of the Latchways® Fall Protection Systems provide the ideal complement to protect people working at height while accessing roofs for maintenance and inspection.

Fall protection standard

The standard governing the testing of anchor devices is EN 795:2012 Type A and Type C and should be considered as the absolute minimum requirement. Under EN 795:2012, anchor devices are tested by subjecting them to a dynamic test using a 100 kg mass— the equivalent of one person falling. CEN TS 16415:2013 is a Technical Specification which supports this standard. This requires that anchor devices are subjected to a dynamic test using a 200 kg mass (equivalent to two users falling) + an additional 100 kg mass for each additional user.

EN 365 product marking

The Latchways Constant Force Post is labelled in accordance with EN 365:2004 standard.

Multi-directional testing

To ensure maximum protection for users, the lifeline system incorporates omni-directional Constant Force energy absorbers, enabling posts to deploy and control load in any direction.

3900 J energy capacity post

To ensure that the loads to the roof are maintained to 6.5 kN, each Constant Force post has the capacity to absorb at least 3900 J of energy.

Exceeding the standard

The standard tests the anchor device; Latchways exceed the standard by testing the anchor in conjunction with the roofing system to which it will be installed.

Roofing system manufacturer approval

MSA partners with industry-leading manufacturers to ensure a holistic approach. MSA is therefore able to provide solutions for new roofing system innovation and ensure latest legislation is met. In addition, Latchways solutions maintain the guarantees/warranties offered by partner manufacturers.

Representative roof test

MSA undertakes extensive testing of complete and representative (6 m x 6 m) roofing systems. These take into consideration the supporting structure.

Approved up to six users

Unless otherwise stated, and with the exception of single point anchors, the Constant Force post system is suitable for access by up to six users at any one time and at any point along the length of the system, even between two anchors, if ground clearance and load capacity requirements are met.

Hierarchy of Fall Protection

Best practice dictates that the system layout be designed in fall restraint, however, MSA’s Latchways Constant Force Post horizontal lifeline system is tested for both fall restraint and fall arrest application.
